How to Have Good Luck. Do You Believe in Luck?

Do You Believe in Luck?

So last night I was tucking my 6-year old son into bed and he said, “Dad, do you believe in Luck?”.  The answer I gave me 6-year old son was this, “I believe that good luck comes to those who work hard and I believe the harder you work, the luckier you get.”  For a 6-year old brain, that’s about as in-depth as I can go on the subject and still have him understand what I mean.  But of course, as with all things in life, the subject of how to have good luck is a bit more complex.

My philosophy on “good luck” comes from a great book called “The Compound Effect” by Darren Hardy.

Here’s the Formula for How to Have Good Luck.

P + M + O + A = L

Which stands for Preparation + mindset + opportunity + Action = Luck

Here’s the thing.  Successful people are no “luckier” than unsuccessful people it’s just that #1, when opportunity crosses their path, they see it because their mindset is right … their attitude is in the right place.  Secondly, they are prepared for it.  They have the skills and the ability to do something with that opportunity and most importantly, they actually take action.  They do something about it.  Richard Branson once said, “I have not been any more lucky or unlucky than anyone else.  The difference is when luck came my way, I took advantage of it.”

Why Most Don’t Know How To Have Good Luck.

Many are simply not able to see opportunity when it comes their way.  This is why mindset is so important.  You cannot see opportunity if you’re not looking for it and you can’t look for something if you don’t believe it exists.  This is why your mindset is so incredibly important.  Surround yourself with successful people to enhance your belief in your own ability to have good luck and find success.  Read books that feed your mind.  Here’s a few of my favorites …

My Favorite Books on Mindset:

“The Compound Effect” by Darren Hardy

Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

Awaken The Giant Within by Anthony Robbins

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Eker

So … Do You Believe in Luck?

lepreachaunI certainly do.  I believe that if you live in a free society, you’re lucky.  I believe that the harder you work, the more luck comes into your life.  I believe that if your attitude is right, you will recognize opportunity when it presents itself.  And if you are well equipped and unafraid, you will do what all successful people do … you will take action.
